Ten things you can do to safe guard your home from electrical hazards.

10.  Install 120 volt battery back up interconnected smoke detectors.

9.  Make sure you do not exceed the maximum wattage bulbs in your light fixtures.

8. Fix or replace all loose, damaged or painted over wall outlets right away.

1.  Install Gfci outlets and breakers were required. 

The only way you can legaly and safely install a three prong outlet when a ground wire is not present.

1.  Pull a new ground wire from  the ground bar on the electrical panel and fish it up the wall to the outlet box.

2.  Install G.F.C.I. outlets or breaker.

3.  You may install a new two prong outlet.  They are still available at the depo's.

4.Installing athree prong outlet in place of old two prong outlets is very unsafe.  A very inexpensive test can tell  you if your outlets are wired correctly and is available at all home improvement stores.
